Effective 2 September 2026 · Dimma for iPhone
The short version. Dimma has no account, no login, no ads and no tracking. It never records or listens: every sound is synthesised on your phone and the app does not use the microphone. Two things leave your phone: anonymous usage events so we can see which features are used, and the purchase receipt Apple issues if you buy the one-time unlock. Neither is linked to your name, email or identity.
Who we are
Dimma is made by Frekvens AS, a company registered in Norway. We are the data controller for the small amount of data described here. You can reach us at support@trydimma.com.
What stays on your phone
Your settings: the colour you last played, your Filter preset and custom settings, your timer and sunrise time, your fade length, whether you have completed onboarding, and whether the one-time unlock has been purchased. These are stored in the app's own local storage on your device. They are not sent to us. Deleting the app deletes them.
What leaves your phone
1. Anonymous product analytics (PostHog)
To understand which parts of Dimma are used and to find bugs, the app sends a small number of product events to PostHog, an analytics service. Examples of events: onboarding completed, colour changed, timer set, filter preset chosen, purchase screen shown, purchase completed, morning page answered.
With each event: a random installation identifier generated on your device, the app version, the iOS version, the device model, and the approximate time. We do not send your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, or any audio. The identifier is not linked to your Apple ID or to you as a person, and it is not used to track you across other apps or websites or for advertising.
Analytics is limited to what is needed to improve the app. We do not sell it and we do not share it with advertisers. PostHog processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy.
2. Purchase validation (Apple and RevenueCat)
Dimma offers one non-consumable in-app purchase, the pay-once unlock. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card, bank or billing details.
To confirm the purchase and let you restore it on another iPhone, the app sends Apple's purchase receipt and a random app-user identifier to RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat stores the receipt data (product bought, purchase date, transaction identifier) linked to that random identifier only. It is not linked to your name or email. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under its privacy policy.
3. Crash reports (Apple)
If you have allowed iOS to share diagnostics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us anonymised crash logs. We use them only to fix crashes. You control this setting.
4. Nothing else
Dimma has no server of its own. There is no account, no email list, no push-notification service, no social features and no advertising network in the app. If you write to us by email, we keep that email to answer you.
Apple's App Privacy label
On the App Store Dimma declares two data types, both not linked to you and not used to track you:
| Data | Why | Linked to you | Used for tracking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product interaction | Analytics (which features are used) | No | No |
| Purchase history | App functionality (validate and restore the unlock) | No | No |
Legal basis and retention
Under the GDPR, we process analytics on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving a product we sell, and purchase data because it is necessary to deliver the purchase you made. Analytics events are kept only as long as they are useful for improving the app and are then deleted or aggregated. Purchase records are kept for as long as the purchase needs to be restorable and as required by tax and accounting law.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete data we hold, and you can object to our processing. Because the data we hold is anonymous, we may ask you for the installation identifier from the app's Settings screen so we can find it. The simplest way to stop all analytics is to delete the app. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet, or to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Dimma is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
